Danny Welbeck taking nothing for granted

Danny Welbeck is taking nothing for granted despite an impressive performance against Tottenham Hotspur last night.

Danny Welbeck has insisted that he is taking nothing for granted despite being named man of the match during Manchester United’s 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur yesterday evening.

The 20-year-old opened the scoring at Old Trafford by heading in Tom Cleverley’s cross, before setting up Brazilian midfielder Anderson to score from close range.

His performance has drawn plaudits from many quarters but the England international has revealed that he is not getting carried away.

“The gaffer has built a great squad with youth and experience in abundance,” Welbeck told MUTV.

“You know that once you’re in that starting eleven, you’ve got to work hard to keep your place. So I think everyone’s working hard in training and doing their best to get in the starting eleven.

“Whoever’s chosen is going to give it their best shot.”

Welbeck spent last season on loan at Sunderland.
