Human rights lawyer Peter Herbert reveals that discussions have begun regarding the introduction of a separate anti-racism group known as the Black Players' Association.

Human rights lawyer Peter Herbert has revealed that talks regarding a breakaway anti-racism group called the Black Players' Association have begun.

Reports of a separate group emerged after a number of high-profile footballers refused to wear anti-racism T-shirts to support the 'Kick It Out' campaign over the weekend.

Reading striker Jason Roberts kicked off the protest by suggesting that the group are not doing enough to stamp out discrimination from the game.

"I think it would be a bit more radical [than 'Kick It Out']," Herbert told PA Sport. "The fact we are having this conversation [shows] the campaign has not achieved what it should have achieved.

"It's no criticism of what they've done, we work with them, we know the people involved but it needs to be taken to the next level."

Questions over the 'Kick It Out' campaign were raised following the four-match ban issued to Chelsea captain John Terry for using racist language while addressing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand and the racial taunts targeted at England Under-21 full-back Danny Rose by Serbia fans during a Euro 2013 qualifier.
