Man United are reportedly lining up an improved offer for Frenkie de Jong, as the club bid to bring the Barcelona midfielder to Old Trafford.
The Netherlands international continues to be strongly linked with a switch to the Red Devils, who have been locked in transfer talks with his Spanish club this month.
Man United had allegedly made a verbal bid for the midfielder, offering €60m (£52m) plus €10m (£8.7m) in add-ons, which was quickly rejected by Barcelona.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 20-time English champions are now preparing to make an improved offer for the midfielder in the hope of coming to an agreement with Xavi's side.
The former Ajax youngster made 46 appearances for Barcelona last season, contributing four goals and five assists in the process, while he still has four years left to run on his contract.

Man United are reportedly yet to hear from Christian Eriksen, with the Denmark international taking his time before making a decision on his future.
The 20-time English champions have allegedly offered the playmaker a contract, as he prepares to leave Brentford as a free agent at the end of the month.
However, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Eriksen is yet to signal whether he wants to join Erik ten Hag's side on a free transfer.
The report claims that Brentford are also making an attempt to keep hold of the 30-year-old, but there is no interest from Tottenham Hotspur despite recent reports.
Ten Hag has allegedly identified Eriksen as a key addition for Man United this summer, with the attacker impressing for the Bees in the second half of last season.

The agents of Ajax attacker Antony are allegedly pushing for a summer move for their client.
The 22-year-old's future has been the subject of much speculation over the last few weeks, with Man United said to be keen to bring him to Old Trafford for the 2022-23 campaign.
According to Italian journalist Romano, Antony's representatives have urged Ajax to listen to offers for the Brazil international during this summer's transfer window.
Romano claims that Man United are 'really interested' and have 'already had contacts' to discuss a possible move for the forward this summer, although there has not yet been an official bid.
Antony was in strong form for his Dutch club during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 12 goals and registering 10 assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.
