Barcelona boss Xavi reportedly turns down the chance to sign Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek due to his wealth of midfield options.

Barcelona boss Xavi has reportedly rejected the chance to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United.

The Netherlands international found the back of the net against Watford at the weekend but consistently struggled for opportunities under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It remains to be seen how a change in the dugout will impact Van de Beek's United fortunes, but he is still being widely linked with an exit in 2022.

Barcelona have been tipped to help the former Ajax man end his Old Trafford nightmare, but Sport claims that Xavi has no interest in bringing him to Catalonia.

The report claims that the Blaugrana boss is already satisfied with his midfield options and would rather prioritise other areas of the pitch, such as Barca's injury-hit attack.

Van de Beek's consolation against Watford was only his second goal from 42 games for United, and the 24-year-old's deal with the Red Devils does not expire until 2025.
