Five Premier League clubs interested in Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho?

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Leicester City are all reportedly monitoring the situation of Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

As many as five Premier League clubs are weighing up a deal for out-of-favour Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho, according to a report.

The Brazil international has failed to replicate the impressive form he showed at Liverpool since arriving in La Liga, and the Catalan giants are supposedly looking to offload Coutinho in order to raise funds for their pursuit of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

Coutinho, who has spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Bayern Munich, has supposedly garnered the attention of several Premier League sides despite his struggles at Camp Nou.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Leicester City are all keeping a close eye on developments surrounding the former Liverpool man.

However, Coutinho is still likely to command a hefty salary despite the financial implications of the coronavirus outbreak - terms which Arsenal are allegedly unwilling to meet in the current economic climate.

Furthermore, the same report indicates that Barca would not be opposed to keeping Coutinho on the books at Camp Nou if they do not receive any suitable offers.

Coutinho has amassed nine goals and eight assists across all competitions during his temporary spell with Bayern, but chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently confirmed that the Bundesliga leaders have not activated the option for a permanent deal.
