Manchester United striker Angelo Henriquez has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson wants the Chilean to remain in the Premier League.

The 18-year-old joined the Red Devils from Universidad de Chile in the summer, but has yet to make a first-team appearance for the club.

It is understood that he is close to completing a move to Wigan Athletic and could join the Latics when the January window opens.

"They want me to go to Wigan so I keep playing in the Premier League," he told the Chilean press.

Wigan will lose Ivory Coast striker Arouna Kone to the Africa Cup of Nations next month.
