Jude Bellingham was reportedly "impressed by what he saw" after visiting Manchester United's training ground alongside his parents earlier this week.
The 16-year-old is widely expected to leave Birmingham City this summer, and United are thought to be in a strong position to sign the midfielder despite interest from Borussia Dortmund.
According to Sky Sports News, the teenager is yet to agree a deal with any club, but he was "impressed" by his visit to Carrington, which also included a meet with Sir Alex Ferguson.
Bellingham will not turn 17 until June but has been a regular for the Blues this season, contributing four goals and three assists in 32 Championship appearances.
The England Under-17 international, who could allegedly earn his Championship club as much as £50m this summer, has a contract at St Andrew's until June 2021.
Liverpool and Chelsea are also believed to be closely monitoring developments.
