Manchester United are reluctant to make a move for Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly reluctant to make a move for Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake despite the recent speculation linking the Dutchman with a switch to Old Trafford.

Ake, 23, spent the first half of the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Bournemouth from Chelsea, before joining the Cherries on a permanent deal in the summer of 2017.

Eddie Howe's team paid £20m to secure the centre-back's signature, and he has impressed at the Vitality Stadium.

Ake again put in a positive performance against United at the weekend, and it has previously been reported that the Red Devils are interested in the Netherlands international.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, United boss Jose Mourinho has concerns over Ake's positional sense, and the 20-time English champions see the deal as a risk when considering the fee that would be involved.

Meanwhile, the same report claims that United fear missing out to Chelsea, who are believed to have first refusal on their former player.

Mourinho reportedly has £100m to spend in the January transfer window, with a new centre-back and a new striker on the Portuguese's wishlist.
