A report says that Manchester United are hoping to sign Barcelona's midfield duo of Cesc Fabreags and Thiago Alcantara this summer.

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Barcelona regarding the availability of both Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara.

Reports earlier this month claimed that incoming manager David Moyes was keen to make former Arsenal midfielder Fabregas his first signing at Old Trafford.

While Barca are reluctant to part with their midfielder, United are hoping that they can tempt the Catalans into parting with him for £25m, according to ESPN.

The report went on to add that Barca would be more open to the prospect of selling Thiago, who reportedly has a release clause of £18m in his contract.

Moyes is thought to have identified the midfield as the main part of the United squad that is in need of bolstering this summer.
