Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick wants to keep unsettled goalkeeper Dean Henderson for the rest of the season.

Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has said that he wants to keep unsettled goalkeeper Dean Henderson for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign.

The England international had a spell as the club's number one last season but is back behind David de Gea when it comes to the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Rangnick has revealed that Henderson has expressed a desire to leave the 20-time English champions during the January transfer window.

However, the interim Man United manager wants to keep hold of the 24-year-old, who was not involved against Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Monday, for the rest of the season.

"A couple of weeks ago he asked me [if he could leave] but I told him I'd rather have him stay until the end of the season," Henderson told talkSPORT. "We are very happy with our goalkeepers but if it's up to me I wouldn't want him to leave."

Henderson, who has a deal at Old Trafford until June 2025, has only made two appearances for Man United this season, featuring once in the EFL Cup and once in the Champions League.
