Saudi Pro League teams are reportedly setting their sights on luring Bruno Fernandes away from Manchester United next year.

Saudi Pro League teams have reportedly set their sights on luring Bruno Fernandes away from Manchester United next summer.

Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, Neymar and Riyad Mahrez were among the high-profile names that made the switch to the Saudi Pro League in recent times, and it seems that Fernandes has now been added to the list of targets for 2024.

The Portuguese midfielder was given the armband after manager Erik ten Hag decided to strip the captaincy from Harry Maguire back in July this year.

According to Sky Sports News reporter Rudy Galetti, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund is gearing up for a potential move to acquire the signature of the United skipper next year.

The report adds that there are indications that representatives from PIF are set to engage in discussions with the midfielder's entourage regarding the possibility of future negotiations.

PIF is the majority stakeholder in the top four Saudi Arabian football teams - Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, Al Ittihad and Al Ahli - as well as Premier League side Newcastle United.

The report surfaced after rumours suggested that Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah were also on the list of players who are in line to be approached to make the switch to the Middle East.

Fernandes joined Man United in 2020 from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of around £60m, and he has gone on to make 200 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 67 goals and providing 57 assists during his time in Manchester.
