According to RMC, OM have made a formal move for the player, who can play at right-back and left-back.
The 27-year old is believed to want to join the Ligue 1 outfit as he wants to play under coach Marcelo Bielsa.
However, Newell's Old Boys are believed to be looking for Marseille to double their offer in order to strike a deal.
