Aitor Karanka: 'Players not working hard enough'

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka accuses his squad of "not working hard enough" after their 1-0 loss away at Watford.

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has accused his Middlesbrough players of overconfidence following their 1-0 loss away at Watford.

Despite having 64% of possession during the match, Boro failed to find the net, and Karanka has said that his side did not "work hard enough" to warrant taking any points.

"Frustrated, angry, disappointed - I'm all of those," he told BBC Tees. "Maybe the problem is we did well a month ago, so the players think they're better than they are.

"You do not win games by just having the ball. We're not scoring goals because we're not working hard enough. It's impossible to win games when you're doing that.

"The players need to be more humble, but the problem for me is how do I fix that?"

The loss leaves Middlesbrough in 14th place, 11 points adrift of the playoff places.
