Middlesbrough end a run of five successive league wins with a goalless draw at Nottingham Forest.

Middlesbrough missed out on the chance to equal a club record and go top of the Championship as they were held to a goalless draw at Nottingham Forest this evening.

Tony Mowbray's side were searching for a sixth successive league win at the City Ground but nearly fell behind early on when Andy Reid shot narrowly wide from close range.

Adele Guedioura drove two efforts wide from distance before Grant Leadbitter came close for Boro before the break.

Forest controlled possession for large periods in the second half but were unable to create cleat-cut chances to test Jason Steele.

Boro introduced Emmanuel Ledesma in the closing stages and he helped create a chance for Scott McDonald, but the striker blazed over from the edge of the area.

Billy Sharp hit the outside of the post late on as the game ended in a stalemate to leave both sides frustrated for different reasons.
