Saber Khelifa's hat-trick sees Evian Thonon Gaillard defeat Montpellier 3-2 away in Ligue 1.

Evian Thonon Gaillard have defeated Montpellier 3-2 away from home in Ligue 1 thanks to a hat-trick from Saber Khelifa.

The visitors were quicker off the foot between the two sides and went ahead on the half-hour mark.

Yannick Sagbo sent Khelifa through on goal with a brilliant pass, and the Evian forward shot home from the centre of the box.

Montpellier restored parity six minutes later when Marco Estrada found the target with a direct free kick.

The French champions then went ahead on 42 minutes, Souleymane Camara's header from a Karim Ait Fana cross from close range making it 2-1 to the home side.

However, Evian equalised in the 62nd minute through Khelifa and had the last laugh at Stade de la Mosson, as the 25-year-old completed his hat-trick in the 89th minute to bag maximum points for his side.
