Scottish Premiership roundup: Motherwell keep up pressure on league leaders

Motherwell do their best to keep the pressure on league leaders Celtic by notching a 4-0 win over St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership.

Motherwell have ensured that they have kept the pressure on league leaders Celtic as they comfortably beat St Johnstone 4-0 at Fir Park in the Scottish Premiership this afternoon.

The hosts took the lead through John Sutton who headed home in the first half, before Iain Vigurs added his side's second straight after the break by neatly converting with his left foot.

Motherwell added a third through Lionel Ainsworth, who tucked away a right-footed shot from the right side of the box into the bottom left corner, before a fourth was added by James McFadden late on in the second half.

Elsewhere, Inverness Caledonian Thistle fell to a shock 2-1 home defeat at the hands of lowly Ross County, thanks to goals either side of half time from Scott Boyd and Alex Cooper, while Aberdeen grabbed a last-minute winner through Peter Pawlett to overcome Dundee United 2-1 at Tannadice Park.
