Napoli score three times without reply at Bologna to confirm second place and their highest finish for over 20 years.

Napoli have secured their highest finish in Serie A since 1990 with a comfortable 3-0 win at Bologna tonight.

Walter Mazzarri's side needed three points to confirm second spot and started brightly, with Edinson Cavani and Lorenzo Insigne both narrowly missing the target from close range.

The visitors were forced into an early change when Valon Behrami went down in some discomfort, with Gokhan Inler quickly drafted into central midfield.

After a frustrating first period Napoli finally took the lead after the break through Marek Hamsik, who fired home from 20 yards after collecting a precise pass inside by Blerim Dzemaili.

Cavani quickly doubled their advantage from the penalty spot for his fourth goal in two games as Napoli began to dominate the match against a beleaguered home side.

A comfortable win for Walter Mazzarri's men was completed soon after as Dzemaili stayed clam to send a measured finish into the bottom corner from close range.
