Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor is confident that the Magpies will survive the drop by the end of the season.

Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor is adamant that the Magpies will remain in the Premier League by the end of the campaign.

The North East outfit are lingering just three points above the drop zone in the table following Saturday's 4-0 defeat to Manchester City.

"I am confident in my teammates," Taylor told The Chronicle. "I look around the dressing room at the players and who I train with every day and what I am sat around is top class.

"This definitely makes me believes we are going to do well. We are not looking down, we are looking up. We are looking at who we can catch and chase.

"In the next few weeks I am looking to see this all wrapped up in the Premier League and hopefully we can look forward to the Europa League."

The Magpies next face Fulham in their league match.
