Papiss Cisse would like to see Demba Ba stay at Newcastle United.

Papiss Cisse has said that it would be bad news for Newcastle United if Demba Ba were to leave in the January transfer window.

Ba has been linked with a move away from the Magpies next month, with Arsenal among those thought to be interested in signing the striker, although Arsene Wenger has denied plans to sign the Senegalese player.

The 27-year-old told The Sun: "I adapted well to playing with Demba Ba when I signed last season and he is a vital player for Newcastle.

"I hear the decisions from the directors at the club but, personally, I don't think this is good news for us.

"I certainly remember all last season's goals and I am looking to obtain a similar number. This is my objective, but it's not easy."

Newcastle face Arsenal this evening.
