FIFA 'consider delaying next February's presidential election'

FIFA is reportedly considering delaying the presidential election due to the 90-day suspensions given to Sepp Blatter, Michel Platini and Jerome Valcke.

FIFA is reportedly considering postponing the presidential election, which is due to be held on February 26 next year.

Current president Sepp Blatter stated earlier this year that he will step down from his role amid investigations into widespread corruption within the world governing body.

The 79-year-old is not in office at the moment as he, along with UEFA president Michel Platini and FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke, is serving a 90-day suspension, which were imposed by FIFA's Ethics Committee.

Blatter is also under a criminal investigation over an alleged "disloyal" £1.3m payment that he made to Platini in 2011.

According to Sky Sports News, due to the suspensions, member associations are keen to discuss the idea of delaying the election at an executive committee meeting.

Blatter has been in charge of FIFA for the last 17 years.
