Chris Hughton plays down Paul Lambert return

Chris Hughton believes that Paul Lambert's return to Norwich City will have little effect on his side's match against Aston Villa.

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has said that Paul Lambert's return to the club will have little effect on this weekend's match with Aston Villa.

Lambert left Carrow Road for Villa in 2012 after leading the Canaries from League One to the Premier League in two season.

Hughton, who replaced the Scot following his departure, has said that he is focusing on Saturday's game rather than the returning Lambert.

"It's normal when a previous manager comes back to a football club, there's generally that little bit more interest," Hughton told the Daily Star.

"What this club remember Paul for very fondly is the great job he did here. Certainly he won't be forgotten for that. But a game against Aston Villa has nothing to do with a game against Paul Lambert, it's 11 players against 11 players that will try to compete against each other to get three points on Saturday.

"It just so happens that their manager is a previous club manager here."

Villa won the last meeting between the two sides in May.
