Leicester City are expected to complete the signing of former Norwich City defender Zak Whitbread later today.
The 28-year-old was released by the Canaries in May, despite featuring 21 times for the Norfolk club last season.
Foxes boss Nigel Pearson had admitted that he was looking to bolster his squad with a new centre-back, following the departure of Matt Mills to Bolton Wanderers.
According to The Mirror, Pearson will officially sign Whitbread on a free transfer within 24 hours.
Whitbread was born in Texas and represented the USA five times at Under-20 level.
