Henri Lansbury hopes Stuart Pearce will lift Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury admits that he can't wait to work with new manager Stuart Pearce when he takes charge next season.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury has said that he is relishing the opportunity to work with Stuart Pearce when he becomes the club's manager next season.

The former England Under-21 boss agreed to take charge on Thursday following the sacking of Billy Davies.

Lansbury, who played under Pearce for the Under-21's, believes that his arrival will bring a new lease of life to the club.

"The lads are looking forward to Stuart coming in, it will be a fresh start for everyone," he told the Daily Star.

"At the moment we are still trying to nick a playoff spot so hopefully there will be a bit of momentum for when Stuart comes in. He's a great man manager and he's a legend here so hopefully, he will get the best out the players.

"The fact that he is held in such high regard here by the fans I think is a plus. I've worked with him before and coming back here will give the fans and the players a lift and maybe that is what we need."

Pearce, who played for Forest between 1985 and 1997, will officially take charge on July 1.
