Porto too strong for Arouca

Jesus Corona scores a brace on his debut as Porto cruise to a 3-1 win over Arouca.

Jesus Corona scored twice on his debut as Porto continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-1 victory over Arouca at the Estadio Municipal de Arouca.

The visitors needed just 15 minutes to break the deadlock as Vincent Aboubakar held off a couple of challenges in the box before teeing up Corona, who slotted home to make it the perfect start to his Porto career after his arrival from Twente.

Arouca managed to withstand pressure after the opening goal, but only Rafael Bracali prevented them from falling further behind in the first half as he made a stunning save to deny the influential Aboubakar.

As the home side dropped deeper to defend either side of the break, Porto continued to threaten and twice went close as both Maxi Pereira and Aboubakar fired shots over.

Julen Lopetegui's side did double their lead just after the hour mark when Bracali could only parry an effort from Andre Andre, which allowed Corona to tap the ball in for his second of the evening.

A comfortable victory was secured by Aboubakar, who got the goal his performance deserved by finishing from close range after Andre had lobbed the ball over Bracali.

Arouca pulled a goal back late on when Maurides capitalised on poor marking to convert a cross at the back post, but it proved to be just a consolation as Porto collected all three points.
