Harry Redknapp pleased with team despite Queens Park Rangers loss

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp insists that he is happy with his team's opening-day performance despite their 1-0 defeat to Hull City.

Harry Redknapp has said that he is pleased with how his Queens Park Rangers side played in their opening match of the new Premier League season, despite the result.

The Hoops, who returned to the top flight after winning the Championship playoffs last season, lost 1-0 at home to Hull City this afternoon.

The manager told Sky Sports News: "Yeah of course, I was pleased with how we played, pleased with the shape of the team. We made lots of chances today, missed a penalty late on when momentum was with us. If we'd have scored the penalty, who knows, we might have gone on and won the game.

"That's how it goes, some days you get the breaks, some days you don't, and today we just couldn't get a break. They were heading them off the line, hitting people on the line, all sorts, but if we play like that every week we'll be okay.

"We worked hard. The shape of the team was good. That was miles better than we ever played last year in the Championship in my opinion. I felt that the quality of the play today was well up on what we did most of last season, so all bodes well for the future. We've just got to keep believing how we play and we'll be alright."

James Chester scored the only goal of the match for the visitors.
