QPR pick up narrow win at Huddersfield Town with Tjaronn Chery goal

Queens Park Rangers pick up their third win of the Championship season after a late finish from Tjaronn Chery gave the London side a 1-0 win at Huddersfield Town.

Queens Park Rangers have picked up their third win of the Championship season thanks to a late finish from Tjaronn Chery, who secured a 1-0 win for the London side at Huddersfield Town.

The Hoops had an early chance to go in front within five minutes, but Charlie Austin's shot was deflected by Chery and fizzed inches over the bar.

Winger Matty Phillips had a second chance for the visitors following a poor Huddersfield clearance, but Tommy Smith was on hand to turn the ball behind.

Terriers midfielder Jacob Butterfield and Sean Scannell were able to create half-chances for the home side, and QPR came close again as Austin was inches away from connecting with a Chery cross, but it finished goalless at half time.

Into the second half, and the home side were unfortunate to not take the lead as Michael Doughty was forced to clear a Martin Cranie header off the line.

Scannell looked a threat for Huddersfield as time ticked away and offered Ishmael Miller the opportunity to head beyond Rob Green, but the former England keeper did well to punch the chance away.

Terriers keeper Murphy matched his counterpart by tipping away another effort from Hoops winger Phillips, who managed to fire a shot in after an adventurous run.

QPR eventually broke the deadlock with six minutes to go after a cross from Massimo Luongo was met by Chery, who made it 1-0 with a deserved goal and sucker punched the afternoon effort of Huddersfield.
