Joey Barton has backed Thomas Muller to one day overtake his Germany teammate Miroslav Klose to become the World Cup's leading goalscorer.
Klose came into the ongoing competition one goal short of Ronaldo, who found the net 15 times over three tournaments.
However, goals in matches against Ghana and hosts Brazil took Klose to 16, which has given the 36-year-old an outright lead.
Queens Park Rangers midfielder Barton believes that it is only a "matter of time" before he is surpassed by Muller.
"Klose sets WC goalscoring record but it's only a matter of time before Thomas Muller takes it away from him. The mans a big game player," Barton wrote on Twitter.
Twenty-four-year-old Muller, who is expected to start tomorrow's final, has 10 World Cup goals to his name.
