Charles Green 'agrees to stand down as Rangers consultant'

Charles Green reportedly agrees to stand down as Rangers consultant and sell his shareholding at the club following a board meeting today.

Charles Green has reportedly agreed to leave his post as consultant at Rangers following a board meeting today.

The decision is believed to have come following a number of rifts throughout the hierarchy of the Scottish outfit, which Green took over with a consortium to save the club from going out of business last year.

It is understood by BBC Scotland that following a conference call with the club's board, Green has agreed to step down and sell his shareholding.

Green, who has had a number of spats with manager Ally McCoist, resigned as chief executive earlier this year due to reports of dealings with former owner Craig Whyte, but later returned in a consultancy role.
