Nacho Novo: 'Rangers don't want me'

Former Rangers striker Nacho Novo reveals that he has given up hope of re-signing for the club, but still wants to play his football in Scotland.

Nacho Novo has revealed that he has given up hope of re-signing for his former club Rangers.

Novo is currently a free agent having been released by Spanish side Huesca during the summer, but Rangers boss Ally McCoist has not offered the striker a contract despite him training with the club to keep his fitness levels up.

"To be fair, there are a lot of things going on at Rangers. Coisty has never spoken to me so you have to take it that they don't want you. You just need to walk away and work hard for your future. At the end of the day, the manager makes the decisions. It's up to the coaching staff and there's nothing I can do," PA quotes him as saying.

"When I came back, I was training at Rangers, just to keep myself fit. Then I got an invitation from Kilmarnock to go and train with them. The offers are more from abroad than over here. I just have to keep myself fit and not get depressed, although I actually feel depressed because I feel I can give a lot and I miss playing.

"I can definitely still do it. I'm quite positive about myself and I will always be honest. If I say I can play, I can play. Finding a team in Scotland is the easiest way for me because my family are from here. It would be nice to be here and it would be the easiest option for me. But, at this moment in time, the reality is that I don't have anything. Maybe we will have to move abroad."

Novo spent six years with Rangers between 2004 and 2010, scoring 73 goals in 255 appearances for the club.
