Saturday's Championship predictions including Reading vs. Middlesbrough

Sports Mole provides score predictions for all of Saturday's Championship fixtures, including Reading vs. Middlesbrough.

Coventry vs. Brentford (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Promotion contenders Brentford head into their meeting with Coventry City on Saturday afternoon looking to avoid their third Championship defeat in quick succession.

While the Bees are challenging for a place in the Premier League, their hosts are just three points above the relegation zone after five matches without a win.

We say: Coventry City 1-2 Brentford

Despite their defeat at home to the leaders in midweek, Coventry will be optimistic that they can pull off a shock in this fixture. However, Frank has been left in no doubt that he needs to freshen up his side, and we expect a brighter performance from the Bees at St Andrew's.

Our tipster partners are predicting an away win.

Bristol City vs. Barnsley (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Managerless Bristol City will be looking to put an end to their six-match losing run in all competitions when they welcome Barnsley to Ashton Gate in Saturday's Championship clash.

The Robins lost 2-0 to Reading in midweek and enter this game three points behind Barnsley, who have won back-to-back matches.

We say: Bristol City 0-1 Barnsley

Not since between December 2016 and January 2017 have Bristol City lost six league games in a row.

Against a Barnsley side back in form, and with a new manager not expected to be in place until after this match, we can see their losing streak continuing for a little while longer.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a draw or an away win.

Cardiff vs. Preston (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Cardiff City will be looking to maintain their winning run under Mick McCarthy when they host out-of-form Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.

The Bluebirds have won four and drawn two since McCarthy replaced Neil Harris last month, while Preston have lost three of their last four.

We say: Cardiff City 2-1 Preston North End

Preston may have alternated between defeat and victory in their last six away league games, but only Norwich City (nine) have won more times on their travels this term than North End's eight.

However, Cardiff have taken more points than any other side since January 27 and have won back-to-back league meetings with Preston, so we can see them coming out on top in this one.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Huddersfield vs. Swansea (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Swansea City take on Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon knowing that victory could move the club into second place in the Championship standings.

While the Welsh side have put together a nine-match unbeaten streak in the second tier, their opponents have failed to win any of their last eight league fixtures.

We say: Huddersfield Town 1-2 Swansea City

Despite the contrasting form of the two clubs, we still expect a competitive encounter at the John Smith's Stadium. Nevertheless, the visitors know what it takes to get over the line when required, a trait that we think they will show in the closing stages.

Our tipster partners are predicting an away win.

Millwall vs. Wycombe (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Millwall manager Gary Rowett pictured in December 2020© Reuters

Millwall welcome Wycombe Wanderers to The Den on Saturday afternoon looking to extend their seven-match unbeaten streak in the Championship.

At a time when the Lions are attempting to remain in the playoff picture, Wycombe are 10 points adrift of safety after losing three of their last four games.

We say: Millwall 2-0 Wycombe Wanderers

The manner of their defeat to Derby is unlikely to have a positive effect on Wycombe, particularly heading into a game with one of the form teams in the division. With that in mind, we expect a routine afternoon for the Lions, who should be able to control the action for much of the 90 minutes.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Norwich vs. Rotherham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Norwich City will be hoping to further extend their lead at the top of the Championship on Saturday when they host struggling Rotherham United.

The Canaries' win over Coventry City on Wednesday, combined with Brentford's defeat to Queens Park Rangers, means they now have a four-point advantage over the Bees in second place.

We say: Norwich City 2-0 Rotherham United

While Rotherham have improved over the course of the season, Norwich seem to be gathering momentum again and have to be placed as favourites for this game. Pukki and Buendia are both on form, and the Canaries will be hard to stop at Carrow Road.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Nott'm Forest vs. Blackburn (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray pictured in January 2021© Reuters

Blackburn Rovers will be looking to halt their worst run of form this season when they travel to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Rovers were beaten 2-1 by Barnsley on Wednesday – their third successive defeat – and they now sit 12th in the Championship table, while Forest occupy 18th position.

We say: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Blackburn Rovers

While both clubs suffered defeats in midweek, Forest will have more confidence than a Blackburn side that find themselves stuck firmly in a rut; these two teams have not tended to score too many goals lately so we are backing a one-goal home win.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a home win or an away win.

QPR vs. Bournemouth (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Queens Park Rangers will be aiming for another top-six scalp on Saturday when they host Bournemouth.

Rangers beat West London rivals Brentford on Wednesday to climb to 16th in the Championship, meaning a trip to Loftus Road will be far from easy for the sixth-placed Cherries.

We say: Queens Park Rangers 1-1 Bournemouth

Both teams are on strong runs of form so this is a tight one to call. A couple of months ago, Bournemouth would have been heavy favourites, but they should not underestimate QPR, particularly after the Hoops' win over Brentford, and we think that this fixture will end level.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a home win or an away win.

Reading vs. Middlesbrough (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Reading's Lucas Joao celebrates scoring against Bristol City in the Championship on February 16, 2021© Reuters

Reading will be looking to cement their spot in the Championship playoff places when they host Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The Royals - absent from the top flight of English football since the 2012-13 campaign - are currently in fifth position, eight points ahead of Boro, who are chasing down the top six in eighth spot.

We say: Reading 2-1 Middlesbrough

This is a key game for both teams' hopes for the rest of the season so it could be a tight and cagey affair in Berkshire. Wins on Tuesday will give the two sides confidence after recent dips in form, but we think it will be Reading that manage to snatch the three points.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Sheff Weds vs. Birmingham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Birmingham City manager Aitor Karanka pictured on January 10, 2021© Reuters

Relegation rivals Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City face off in a huge clash at the bottom end of the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The two sides are in the relegation zone after tasting defeat in midweek and are locked level on points heading into this game at Hillsborough.

We say: Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Birmingham City

Both sides will be looking to respond to midweek defeats in this relegation six-pointer.

Birmingham are unbeaten in three successive away league games against Wednesday, but the home side have been impressive on home soil over the past couple of months.

Indeed, the Owls have won five home league games on the spin - as many as they did in their previous 26 - and we are backing them to come out on top this weekend.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Stoke vs. Luton (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Luton Town manager Nathan Jones pictured in December 2020© Reuters

Stoke City welcome Luton Town to the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon having finally ended their two-month winless streak in the Championship.

The ninth-placed Potters sit five points clear of the visitors, who travel to Staffordshire on the back of three defeats in five games.

We say: Stoke City 1-1 Luton Town

Stoke must find a way to use their late win in midweek to trigger an improved return in the final third. However, facing a Luton side who may be content with a share of the spoils, we expect a low-key encounter in the Potteries to end in a draw.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.
