Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that recent comments made by Xavi are 'worthless' as the Barcelona legend is now out of the media spotlight.
Xavi recently claimed that the Portugal international was "unlucky" to be around at the same time as Lionel Messi, who has achieved more to justify his title as FIFA Ballon d'Or holder in the past.
Ronaldo, who scored on his return to action in Madrid's 5-2 rout of Osasuna on Saturday, has now responded to Al Sadd midfielder Xavi's comments and suggested that they carry less weight coming from a player who has never been crowned as the world's best player.
"I'm the most searched player on the internet. Anyone who wants free publicity or media attention talks about me," he is quoted as saying by Marca.
"I couldn't care less what Xavi says about me, he plays in Qatar or I don't even know where. He's won every collective trophy, including a World Cup and the European Championship, but he's never won a Ballon d'Or."
Ronaldo has been crowned as the world's top player on three separate occasions.
