Real Madrid reportedly place contract talks with Casemiro on hold amid the coronavirus pandemic, with the midfielder's current deal set to expire next summer.

Real Madrid have reportedly placed contract talks with Casemiro on hold amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Los Blancos have been linked with a number of midfield options recently, namely Paul Pogba and Eduardo Camavinga, but Casemiro is reportedly safe at the club.

However, the midfielder will see his current deal at the Bernabeu - where he has chalked up 35 appearances across all competitions during the 2019-20 campaign - expire in 2021.

Casemiro was believed to have penned fresh terms with Los Blancos during the winter transfer window, but according to AS, the Brazilian has not extended his deal and negotiations have stalled in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The report claims that the La Liga giants were prepared to offer the 28-year-old a significant wage increase to secure his long-term future in the Spanish capital, although the pandemic will likely have widespread financial implications for clubs worldwide.

Casemiro has amassed a total of 22 goals from 229 games for Madrid since his arrival from Porto.
