Carlos Vela: 'Javier Hernandez may leave Manchester United'

Real Sociedad striker Carlos Vela hints that Javier Hernandez may need to leave Manchester United to gain regular starting action.

Carlos Vela has warned his fellow Mexican Javier Hernandez that he may have to depart Manchester United for the good of his career.

Hernandez, 25, has made just eight appearances for the English champions this season, having fallen down the pecking order behind Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck.

Discussing his international teammate's situation at Old Trafford, Real Sociedad forward Vela conceded that he might have to leave at some point.

"Javier is my good friend and I hope he gets lots of chances this season at Manchester United. He is one of the best finishers in England and deserves chances under the new coach," The People quotes the former Arsenal striker as saying.

"If he plays regularly he will score, so I don't totally understand why a player of his quality has not played more games. If he doesn't play regularly he will need to think about leaving.

"You always want to succeed at the biggest clubs, but if he is not given the chance, there will be big teams in England and Europe wanting him."

Vela and Hernandez could face each other on Tuesday night when United make the trip to Sociedad for a Champions League encounter.
