Guingamp edge out Reims

Guingamp come from behind to edge out Reims 3-2 in a closely-fought contest in Ligue 1.

Guingamp have secured a 3-2 win over Reims in a closely-fought match at Stade Auguste Delaune II this afternoon.

The home side made a bright start, opening the scoring just six minutes into the tie when Diego crossed the ball in for Gaetan Charbonnier to fire home.

Benjamin Angoua came close to getting Guingamp back on level terms shortly after when he unleashed a powerful finish from the right-hand side of the box, but Johnny Placide did enough to keep it out.

The visitors were level before the break though as Lars Jacobsen curled the ball into the top right corner from a free kick after Antoine Devaux had brought down Claudio Beauvue.

Guingamp struck again just moments after the restart when Beauvue had an effort saved, but it was parried straight to Christophe Mandanne, who fired it down the middle to put the visitors ahead for the first time.

Odair Fortes could have drawn the sides level again less than 10 minutes later when he tried to head in an Aissa Mandi cross from close range, but Jonas Lossl made the save.

Reims continued to press though, and did managed to find the back of the net when Antoine Conte pulled the ball back for Prince Oniangue to blast in from 25 yards out.

However, the visitors managed to rally and reclaimed the lead late on when Sambou Yatabare set up Beauvue to lash the ball in, sealing the win for Guingamp.

The result moves Guingamp up to 16th in the table, while Reims remain 10th.
