The 33-year-old has made just 14 appearances in Serie A this season due to a long-standing knee problem.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Giallorossi want to end Maicon's contract by mutual consent, which would enable the defender to move to America.
Maicon is in his second season at Roma, having joined the club from Manchester City in July 2013.
