Half-Time Report: Rotherham United holding Sheffield Wednesday

Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday fail to make a breakthrough in a goalless first half at the New York Stadium.

Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday have missed the chance to break the deadlock in a goalless first half as Neil Redfearn looks to earn his first win as manager of the hosts.

Heading into the match on the back of a six-game unbeaten run, the visitors kept the ball well in the early stages without causing too many problems for the Rotherham defence.

Jonson Clarke-Harris was a threat at the opposite end of the pitch and he showed the confidence to unleash a powerful effort from 25 yards which Kieran Westwood was forced to collect at the second attempt.

As chances continued to prove difficult to come by, Ross Wallace ended a clever passing move from Wednesday by miscuing a shot wide of the target from the edge of the box.

A moment of miscommunication cost Rotherham the chance to take a lead into the break when Clarke-Harris got in the way of Matt Derbyshire, as both players aimed to head home from close range after Danny Collins had flicked on a corner.

Barry Bannan's burst from midfield almost earned the advantage for Wednesday, but with pressure on him from two defenders, he could only send a lobbed header over.
