Preview: Scotland vs. Georgia

Sports Mole previews this Saturday's Euro 2016 qualifier between Scotland and Georgia in Group D.

Scotland are searching for their first win of the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign when they take on Georgia on home soil in Saturday's encounter.

Gordon Strachan's side suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of world champions Germany during their opening qualifier last month.

It's all square between Scotland and Georgia heading into this weekend's fixture, with both sides having grabbed victories in their two previous UEFA meetings.

The Scots grabbed a 2-1 victory when the two sides first went head to head in Glasgow in March 2007 under former manager Alex McLeish, but they suffered defeat in the return fixture seven months later.

Georgia are also yet to secure a win in this qualifying campaign as they fell to a 2-1 defeat to Group D rivals the Republic of Ireland last month.

The recent stats bode well for Scotland as Georgia have not won in 19 competitive away games since 2006, when they beat the Faroe Islands 6-0 in a European qualifier.

In terms of team news, Strachan may opt to play both Steven Naismith and Steven Fletcher due to the latter's recent return to goalscoring form following his brace in the Black Cats' 3-1 victory over Stoke City last weekend.

Captain Scott Brown is likely to return to midfield after missing the Germany encounter, while Andy Robertson may come in for Steven Whittaker at left-back following his return from injury.
