Brian Laws sacked by Scunthorpe United

Scunthorpe United confirm the sacking of manager Brian Laws.

Scunthorpe United have terminated the contract of manager Brian Laws with immediate effect.

The 52-year-old returned to the club for a third spell in October 2012 but could not prevent the team being relegated from League One.

The Iron have failed to pick up a win in their last five matches in all competitions, though they currently sit just two points off the playoff places in the League Two table.

Scunthorpe's latest defeat came on Tuesday night when they were beaten 2-1 at home by Grimsby Town in an FA Cup first-round replay.
