Preview: Watford vs. Sheffield United - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole provides team news, predicted lineups and a full preview of Saturday's Premier League encounter between Watford and Sheffield United.

Watford play host to Sheffield United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon still looking for their first win in this season's top flight.

The Blades make the trip to Vicarage Road sitting in 12th position, having already recorded eight points from their first seven games of the campaign.

After watching his players earn a comeback draw against Arsenal in his first game back at the club, Quique Sanchez Flores would not have envisaged that 10 goals would be conceded without reply against Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

While Watford improved slightly at Molineux last weekend, Flores now has a sizeable task on his hands to ensure that the Hornets do not get cut adrift at the bottom of the table.

A positive result will change that, and there is no danger of the Hornets taking this Sheffield United team lightly given their contrasting fortunes since the beginning of the campaign.

That is something which may work in Watford and Flores's favour, however, at a time when he is looking for the club's established players and high-profile arrivals to justify their spots in the team.

At a time when Flores is tasked with getting points on the board as soon as possible, Blades manager Chris Wilder has a job on his hands to lift his squad after missing out against Liverpool.

The newly-promoted outfit deserved a share of the spoils against the league leaders, only for Dean Henderson's mistake to gift the Merseyside giants all three points.

That said, Wilder may be reassured by United's record away from home this season, with five points coming from games at Bournemouth, Chelsea and Everton.

Much is often made about clubs having to rely on their form in front of their own supporters when earning a place back in the top flight, but that may not be the case with the Yorkshire side, especially when facing opponents who are aware of the scrutiny which will follow if United make it four games unbeaten on their travels.

Providing that he has overcome a knock, Will Hughes could come into the Watford starting lineup, as could Roberto Pereyra and Andre Gray.

Troy Deeney remains unavailable as he continues to recover from a knee operation, while Isaac Success is also struggling to feature at the weekend.

David McGoldrick remains out of contention for Sheffield United due to a groin injury, but Billy Sharp is available again after serving a three-game ban.

However, as a result of their positive showing against Liverpool, Wilder may opt against making any changes to his first XI.

Watford possible starting lineup: Foster; Janmaat, Dawson, Cathcart, Holebas; Cleverley, Capoue, Doucoure; Sarr, Welbeck, Pereyra

Sheffield United possible starting lineup: Henderson; Basham, Egan, O'Connell; Baldock, Lundstram, Norwood, Fleck, Stevens; McBurnie, Robinson
