Stuart Gray pleased with impact of three Sheffield Wednesday substitutes

Sheffield Wednesday boss Stuart Gray praises the impact of substitutes Caolan Lavery, Chris Maguire and Stevie May in the late victory at Rotherham United.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Stuart Gray praised the impact made by his three second-half substitutes after they helped them win 3-2 away at Rotherham United.

Rotherham thought they had earned the three points when Jordan Bowery put them ahead in the 87th minute, but Wednesday rallied in injury time and scored two goals through Atdhe Nuhiu and Kieran Lee.

Wednesday struggled for much of the encounter, and Gray believes that Caolan Lavery, Chris Maguire and Stevie May changed the game off the bench.

He told BBC Sport: "If you're going to put subs on they have to have an impact. Credit to the three lads who went on, they have had a big impact [and] it probably just put Rotherham on the back foot, they went a little bit deeper and allowed my full-backs to get forward.

"When we put the three subs on I just felt it opened the game up for us. In the last 10 minutes it looked like we were the only team going to score."

Wednesday stay 12th in the Championship table following the result.
