Mauricio Pochettino certain of Morgan Schneiderlin France call-up

Mauricio Pochettino is surprised that Morgan Schneiderlin has not already been called up to the France squad.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino believes that Morgan Schneiderlin will eventually earn an international call-up from France.

The midfielder has been one of the star performers in the Saints side this season, but has continued to be overlooked by Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps.

Southampton find themselves third in the Premier League table following a 4-1 win over Hull City at St Mary's Stadium on Saturday.

"It does surprise me [that he is overlooked] because he's a player that does have the same quality as the players that have been called up," Pochettino said in a press conference. "He is a player that has amazing quality and I am 100% sure it will happen.

"He needs to keep on working with the same humility, the same work ethic and it's a matter of time until he will get that call up.

"The only thing I would say to the French Federation is they should be careful because he might be able to play for England."

Schneiderlin, 24, has been capped at every youth level for France, but yet to make a senior appearance.
