Levante turn on style to ease past Sporting Gijon

La Liga strugglers Levante score three first-half goals to claim a 3-0 win away at Sporting Gijon.

Levante have picked up just their second La Liga win of the campaign by cruising to a 3-0 victory away at Sporting Gijon.

Les Granotes scored all three of their goals inside the opening 45 minutes to claw themselves out of the relegation zone.

Deyverson got the visiting side up and running with a fine strike from the edge of the box, and they did not have to wait too much longer for a second.

After Jose Morales's free kick was somehow kept out, Zouhair Feddal was standing by to tap home from just a couple of yards out to double Levante's advantage.

Deyverson then claimed a second goal of his own, turning the ball home from close range after Gijon failed to deal with a whipped corner into the box.

The Rojiblancos did have a chance to pull themselves back into the contest after the restart, but Rodriguez Menendez Jonathan failed to convert from the spot when his side were awarded a penalty.

That proved to be it in terms of major openings, meaning that Sporting are dragged right into relegation danger themselves in Spain's top flight.
