Sporting Gijon 2-1 Real Betis

A brace from Gaston Sangoy saw Sporting Gijon defeat Real Betis 2-1 at El Molinón.

Sporting Gijon have boosted their survival hopes with a 2-1 victory over Real Betis.

The home side were gifted the opportunity to take the lead after 13 minutes when Antonio Amaya handled in the area.

The referee pointed to the spot and Gaston Sangoy swept the ball home from the spot.

The teams looked to be heading into the break on level terms until Jorge Molina struck from close range in first-half injury time.

Sangoy bagged his brace in the 55th minute when Oscar Trejo's free kick dropped to him inside the area.

Sporting held on to wrap up the victory and close the gap on Rayo Vallecano.
