Steffen Freund "confident" of victory

Steffen Freund says that Tottenham Hotspur's form away from home gives them confidence heading into tonight's decisive Europa League encounter with Basel in Switzerland.

Steffen Freund believes that Tottenham Hotspur can defeat Basel if they are at their best at St Jakob-Park this evening.

The North London club need to score in Switzerland if they are to progress to the semi-finals of the Europa League following last week's 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane.

The German, who is Andre Villas-Boas's assistant coach, paid tribute to the quality of Murat Yakin's men, but believes that Spurs have a "good chance" of winning.

"We're playing against a strong team with good individual quality and we know it will be difficult," the club's official website quotes Freund as saying. "But we are confident because we've played so well away from home all season.

"If we perform how we know we can, we have a good chance of progressing to the semi-finals."

Basel have never been beyond this stage of the competition.
