How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Ludogorets Razgrad

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham could line up for their Europa League showdown with Ludogorets on Thursday evening.

Tottenham Hotspur can take another step towards qualification for the Europa League knockout stages when they welcome Ludogorets Razgrad to North London for Thursday's Group J clash.

Jose Mourinho has witnessed his side triumph four times on the trot in all competitions, and Spurs go into the game following a memorable 2-0 victory over Manchester City - a result which lifted them to the top of the Premier League table after nine matches.

Tottenham eased to a 3-1 victory when they made the long journey to Bulgaria earlier this month, but as one of three sides in Group J sitting on six points, Mourinho's men still have work to do to ensure their place in the next round.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham could line up for the visit of Ludogorets on matchday four of the Europa League.

While Jose Mourinho would have been overjoyed by the manner of his side's victory over Man City, the Spurs boss was forced to witness the sombre sight of Toby Alderweireld being forced off with 10 minutes remaining, and Mourinho has since confirmed that the Belgian will be out of action for up to four weeks.

With Joe Rodon ineligible for the Europa League, that all but guarantees Davinson Sanchez's return to the starting lineup alongside Eric Dier, while Serge Aurier should start at right-back unless Japhet Tanganga or Matt Doherty manage to recover in time for Thursday.

Doherty is now back in the squad after recovering from coronavirus but may need some time to get back up to match fitness, while on the opposite side of defence, Ben Davies should be given a run-out, allowing Sergio Reguilon to rest before Sunday's mouth-watering showdown with Chelsea.

Harry Winks came back from international duty with England with a "small injury", Mourinho confirmed, but the midfielder has a chance of featuring against Ludogorets alongside either Moussa Sissoko or Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and the former could get the nod over his teammate.

Mourinho has a wealth of attacking options notwithstanding the injured Erik Lamela, and following his goal against Man City, Giovani Lo Celso is in contention to start in the number 10 role, meaning no room for Dele Alli in the first XI once again.

Changes out wide should see Gareth Bale return to the starting lineup and Lucas Moura feature on the opposite flank, with no risks being taken over Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-min before the weekend's encounter with Chelsea.

Harry Kane's phenomenal start to the season continued against Man City as the England captain banked another assist - his 24th goal contribution of the campaign in all competitions - but Mourinho is expected to rest Kane here and give Carlos Vinicius the chance to impress from the first whistle.
