Tottenham Hotspur recorded their fourth Premier League victory in a row on Sunday by beating Aston Villa 2-0 at White Hart Lane.

Goals from Steven Caulker and Aaron Lennon ensured that the Londoners continued their good form, with Villa once again failing to find some early season form.

Was the result fair?

Yes, Spurs were the better side for the majority of the match and looked a much better creative force than Villa after the break. The visitors had chances to take the lead but poor finishing from Christian Benteke cost Paul Lambert's side dearly.

Tottenham's performance

Despite controlling the match in the first period, Andre Villas-Boas will have been disappointed with the lack of chances his team created. In the second half, they looked far more threatening and once they were ahead, there was no chance Villa would be leaving the capital happy.

Aston Villa's performance

Lambert's team lacked a cutting edge and in truth, they have all season. Benteke had numerous chances to score but he won't have many worse days in a claret shirt. The defence looked solid for long periods but a lack of concentration contributed to both goals.

Referee's performance

Neil Swarbrick had very little to do at White Hart Lane, with no controversial talking points during the game.

Sports Mole's man of the match

It was an all-round good team performance from Spurs but Moussa Dembele just edges this award today. The Belgian midfielder was comfortable in possession throughout and Villa failed to find away to disrupt him.

Biggest gaffe

Benteke was given the chance to put Villa ahead after a mistake from Hugo Lloris but the striker headed wide from only six yards out just minutes before Caulker's opener.

What next?

Spurs: Chelsea will visit their London neighbours after the international break in a lunchtime match on October 20.

Aston Villa: On the same day, Lambert will take his men to Fulham in a bid to find their first away win of this season.
