Emmanuel Adebayor backs Louis Saha

Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor backs new signing Louis Saha to help the club push on and win trophies.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor has backed new signing Louis Saha to help the club push on and challenge Manchester City and United for the Premier League title.

Saha, 33, joined the North London side on the final day of the January transfer window and made an immediate impact when he scored twice on his debut, the 5-0 thrashing of Newcastle last weekend.

Now Adebayor, who set up both of Saha's strikes, has said that he is relishing the prospect of playing with the Frenchman on a regular basis.

"I have immediate respect for Louis. I know him from when I was at Metz, he was the senior player, I was the youth player and I used to look up to him," said the former Arsenal striker.

"Now to have the chance to play alongside him, it was a pleasure. I'm happy for him. It was his first game at home and he scored two goals.

"Hopefully he will be the striker that we need who can give us a push until the end of the season. At the moment we are third and we have to keep going, keep fighting and see how far we can go."

Spurs are currently third in the Premier League, seven points behind leaders Manchester City.
