Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel believes that teammate Scott Parker has the right qualities to lead England in the European Championships this summer.
The former West Ham United midfielder has been touted as a possible replacement for John Terry, who was stripped of the captain's armband amid allegations of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.
While Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard is the favourite to take the captaincy, American Friedel believes that Parker should be considered.
"[Manchester City goalkeeper] Joe Hart has the mentality to be a captain but you've also got with England two ready-made captains in Steven Gerrard and Scotty Parker," Friedel told talkSPORT.
"Playing with Scotty for the last six months or so you can see, whether he has the captain's armband or not, he is going to be a captain.
"He is a top pro around the club, he lives his life right, and on the pitch he covers in front of the back four the best that I have played with."
The 31-year-old has just ten caps for the Three Lions.
