Mousa Dembele desperate to prove worth to Tottenham Hotspur

Mousa Dembele admits that he is keen to become a key player for Tottenham Hotspur again after falling down the pecking order last season.

Mousa Dembele has revealed his determination to be a key figure for Tottenham Hotspur this season.

Despite being used on a regular basis in Mauricio Pochettino's first campaign in charge, Dembele started just 10 Premier League games as Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb formed a successful partnership in the centre of midfield.

The Belgian was used on the right of midfield from the start in Saturday's 1-0 loss to Manchester United and he is hopeful of making a bigger impact in the future.

"I'm happy I started and I just try to develop every time I play," he told the club's website. "I want to show everyone what I can do.

"I hope to fight for the team and that's the first thing I'll do, fight for the team and try to do what the manager asks of me.

"There is a good atmosphere in the team and I want to be part of that and prove that I can be important for this club."

Spurs return to action against Stoke City on Saturday.
