Mauricio Pochettino 'didn't like' Erik Lamela showboating

Mauricio Pochettino takes a dim view of Erik Lamela's trickery when nutmegging Andros Townsend, saying that he "does not like this kind of thing".

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he was not entirely impressed with midfielder Erik Lamela's trickery against Crystal Palace last weekend.

The Argentina international, who is reportedly in line for a new deal at White Hart Lane, nutmegged former teammate Andros Townsend during the 1-0 win on Saturday afternoon.

Lamela's showboating saw him earn plenty of praise from supporters and current Spurs players alike, but Pochettino does not share those views and instead insisted that he failed to get excited by the nonchalance.

"I can understand the reaction. To be honest I don't like this kind of thing," he told reporters. "I understand the supporters enjoy it a lot but I enjoy winning games and scoring goals.

"For me it was an action but there is nothing more to say. It doesn't create any emotion in me but I understand that it's football and the supporters like this type of thing."

Lamela, who scored a key equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Everton in Spurs' Premier League opener, played 89 minutes against Palace before being taken off.
